fpa Responds To Research On STI Rates In The Over 45’s Published In The Journal Sexually Transmitted Infections
Julie Bentley, Chief Executive, fpa said: ”We’ve also noticed a rise in the numbers of over 45’s phoning our helpline. Tragically, the sexual health of men and women of this age group is largely neglected and it’s something fpa is increasingly concerned about. Services are geared towards young people, campaigns are targeted at the under 25’s so over 45’s think that sexual health has nothing to do with them and don’t even know when they’re taking risks.

fpa’s Annual Award For Excellence In Sex And Relationship Education Is Won By Birmingham’s Young People’s Health Project, UK
Scored, a project run by the Birmingham Young People’s Health Project which uses football to educate young people about sexual health and relationships is the winner of the 2008 Pamela Sheridan Award for excellence in sex and relationships education (SRE). The project will receive £1,000 and five years membership with fpa. The Scored project ran a 12 week course for eleven young people aged between 13 and 18.

Recombinant human erythropoietin (rHuEpo) is a genetically engineered hormone sometimes misused by high-performance athletes such as cyclists and marathon runners to boost their endurance. The potential misuse of the drug is detected in urine collected from athletes. Since the test was introduced in 2000, 33 labs around the world have been accredited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) to administer the procedure.
